Pour some bleach down the drain, let it sit for about an hour then run hot water through.

pour vinegar and put something to clean the grinders like water melon rind

Yeah thats gross..I used to have that problem, but i moved out of that house!

I tried all kinds of things. I think the biggest thing you can do is change the section of piping that is closest to the drain’s opening.

do you have an odor trap in the drain pipe? (an S shaped part of the pipe below sink…) if not put one in. it’ll take care of the prob. if you do, then the bleach idea (above ) is the way to go.

damn. look at that. out handied by a handy girl. the humanity. 8) actually kind of a turn on (strange) u go, girl.
    p trap. yep. good description.

Call a plumber and have a P-trap installed. It gets installed where your drain pipe under the sink is U shaped. The smells are currently able to come up the drain because there is nothing there to block them; the P-trap causes just enough water to remain in the bend of the pipe to stop the odours from coming up. This job is less than one hour of a plumber’s time and under $10 in materials. Until you have this done, you can just leave your cold water running — the tiniest constant stream of water will do the trick. Pouring various products down the drain really won’t help because each time the pipe gets dry the odour returns.

bleach/water mixture to prime the tap, about a gallon is more than enough..

I poured bleach down the drain, all the drains (all at once) if there are several in the room. Worked for me.
