How do a join a new french drain to an existing underground drainage system?
The property already has an underground drainage system which has two catch basins in the yard, and they work fine.
There is another area I discovered that gets very wet and water stays around there a long time because of the clay soil. So I want to add another french drain there, but would like to tie it into the existing underground drainage system, but I don’t know how.
I know about getting perforated pipe for the french drain, but that’s the extent of my knowledge. How do these systems work together, do they connect from one pipe to another and are these difficult to join? Thanks! Any underground drainage experts out there?

You just connect the new underground drain into the old via a T connection. How you do this will depend on the type of piping in the old underground drainage system.
those two catch basins will fill up quickly if you drain ground and / or rain water directly in to them …..add a dirt slope away from your property
i would personally run your new underground pipe into one of the existing catch basins, provided the new pipe is a touch higher than the outlet in the catch basin, the purpose of a catch basin is to catch the silt sand soil etc from entering your pipes, the cb’s should be cleaned out yearly if you want to avoid trouble.
