That should save some power and don't use the flash if you don't need to. The flash is a major battery drainer. Evern Pro digital camera have separate compartments for batteries devoted just to the flash. Also using batteries that are specific to digial cameras, like kodak NIMH or Lithium batteries help. The thing is that digital cameras need like really expensive batteries. The Lithium batteries which are like 10 bucks work for a while. I've had the same batteries for like a week.
