Kitchen sink drain clogs can take place when you don’t use the drain strainer to catch particles of food and rubbish from falling through the drain into the pipes. These food scraps buildup inside the pipework, causing blockage. Cooking oils and grease aggravate potential clogs by lining the pipes. In the toilet, the flushing of excessive toilet paper is the main culprit.

Blocked toilet drains are also frequently caused by flushing foreign objects down them. Sanitary towels and baby nappies can choke up a toilet immediately or after some time. Accumulation of hair in the pipes can lead to clogging of bathroom sinks, showers and bathtubs. Items such as shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, hair gel further complicate the blockage problem as they accumulate over time.

Unfortunately, clogs can occur as a result of problems that have nothing to do with what you put into your drains. Scale, tree roots, deterioration of pipes that are rusted and crushed drain lines have also been known to cause plumbing problems.
